PHILIPPINE ISLANDS: Thelma explains, "I received a call from a doctor who was from the Islands. He stated that for his wife's birthday he wanted to give her a special Parfum from the Sampaguita flower and commissioned me to create the fragrance for his wife. He wanted his wife to have the ultimate fragrance -- one created especially for her as a birthday present. I designed this delicate floral fragrance, one that embodies all that is loving -- for the beautiful wife of a doctor from the Islands. The doctor's wife felt it was too beautiful a fragrance to keep to herself and so asked if it could be made available for all her friends." Romantic Scent of the Sampaguita Flower. Fragrance Launch, January 2004. Perfumes for women.
Thelma recalls growing up on Alameda Island. "The tiny white flower was called Sampaguita on Alameda Island. The locals would make a perfume from it. It's beautiful to behold, with its creamy double-petalled flowers and glossy green leaves, and its fragrance smells divine. Today it is the most popular fragrance sold throughout the Pacific Islands, Philippines and Southeast Asia."
Don’t Rub—Just Spray
That almost unconscious application habit—misting a little scent on your wrists and then pressing them together before reaching for your neck—is actually very bad. Why? The friction created by rubbing heats up the skin, which produces natural enzymes that change the course of the scent. Most impacted are the top and middle notes, along with the dry-down, or the last and longest period of your fragrance’s unfolding. With a floral, for example, [heat] warms up everything, ultimately [causing it] to lose its crispness. To preserve the integrity of your fragrance (and also ensure it lasts longer on your skin), spritz both wrists lightly, let the liquid sink in, and then do absolutely nothing at all. Our fragrance is very concentrated. One drop will last all day and maintain a full fragrance.
Sampaguita Perfume was developed by returning to the creative roots of perfumery development. Thelma recalls growing up on Alameda Island: "The tiny white flower was called Sampaguita on Alameda Island. The locals would make a perfume from it. It smelled divine, Today it is the most popular fragrance sold throughout the Pacific Islands, Philippines and Asia."
